To make a cookie, you will need: royal icing for Lovebug and single-piece cookies, flesh-colored gel food coloring, 4-5 inch Santa-shaped sugar cookie cutouts, 2 giant rainbow nonpareils in purple or green, red gel food coloring, mini gumdrops (halved), sugar-coated almonds, mini marshmallows (halved), or snowflake sprinkles, black gel food coloring, white gel food coloring, coarse sanding sugar, 1 small red hot cinnamon candy, white sprinkles.
Directions: 1. Mix some royal icing with flesh-colored food coloring until you reach the desired shade. Transfer to a small spray bottle. To create the face and hands on the cookie, use the flesh-colored icing to outline the areas (see template). Draw several Z-shapes over the entire surface of the outlined area. Use a toothpick to spread the icing evenly if necessary. Use tweezers to add nonpareils to create the eyes. Let dry. 2. Mix some royal icing with red food coloring until you reach the desired shade. Transfer to a small spray bottle. To create the hat, jacket, and pants on the cookie, use the red icing to outline the areas (see template). Draw several Z-shapes over the entire surface of the outlined area. Use a toothpick to spread the icing evenly if necessary. Use tweezers to add gumdrops to create buttons on the jacket. 3. Mix some royal icing with black food coloring until you reach the desired shade. Transfer to a small spray bottle. To create the boots on the cookie, outline the area with black icing (see template). Draw several Z-shapes over the entire surface of the outlined area. Use a toothpick to spread the icing evenly if necessary. Let dry. 4. Mix some royal icing with white food coloring until you reach the desired shade. Transfer to a small spray bottle.
