Denne hurtige metode til fremstilling af pickles involverer ikke sterilisering eller forsegling af krukken. Farverne på disse totonede pickles er mest imponerende, når de først laves, men de smager så godt efter farven falder.
This recipe for pickles is easy and doesnt involve sterilizing or sealing the jar. The colors of the two-toned pickles are most impressive when first made, but they taste great even after the color fades. To make a 1/2-gallon jar, youll need water, vinegar, salt, sugar, Vidalia onions, red onions, and garlic (optional). Wash the jar with soap and water, then combine the water, vinegar, salt, and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil. Fill the jar halfway with onions, add garlic if desired, then cover with the remaining onion slices, packing them down with a clean spoon. Leave 3/4 inch of space under the rim. Pour the hot liquid over the onions, covering them by 1/4 inch and leaving 1/2 inch of space under the rim. Put the lid on the jar and let it cool. Store in the refrigerator and use within a week.
