These individual potato gratins are perfect for Thanksgiving dinner or as a side dish for any dinner. They go well with steak, roasted beef, chicken, or sautéed vegetables. Source: Everyday Food, November 2010. 6 servings. Ingredients: Unsalted butter, room temperature, for muffin cups. 2 medium red potatoes (about 3/4 pound each). Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. 6 tablespoons heavy cream. Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly butter 6 standard muffin cups. Thinly slice potatoes. Layer slices into cups, seasoning with salt and pepper every few slices. Continue layering potatoes, seasoning every few slices, until cups are filled. Pour 1 tablespoon cream over each. Bake until potatoes are golden brown and tender when pierced with a knife, 30 to 35 minutes. Run a thin knife around each gratin. Place baking sheets or a large platter over muffin cups and invert to release gratins. Turn right side up and serve.
