This recipe for heart-shaped cookies is sure to make everyone feel special. The combination of butter, sugar, and vanilla creates a creamy base for the flour and salt. The addition of finely chopped semi-sweet or bitter chocolate adds a rich flavor to the dough. After chilling the dough for at least two hours, roll it out to a thickness of 1/16 to 1/8 inch and cut out heart shapes with a 2-inch cookie cutter. Bake the cookies at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for about 18 minutes, until the edges are just starting to brown. Once cooled, dip half or a third of each cookie in melted chocolate and let them dry on parchment paper or in the fridge. These cookies will keep for up to five days in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy!
