These crumbly cookies are sprinkled with crispy pecans. This recipe is from Alltagsessen, May 2006 and takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to make. It yields 18 bars. To make the cookies, you will need pecan halves, all-purpose flour, confectioners sugar, unsalted butter, and salt. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil. In a food processor, pulse the pecans until finely chopped and set aside. In the same processor, mix the flour, sugar, butter, and salt until moist clumps form. Add the reserved pecans and pulse 2 or 3 times to integrate. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan and prick with a fork every 1/2 inch. Bake until lightly golden, about 30 to 35 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then use the foil overhang to lift the cookie out of the pan and onto a cutting board. Cut into 18 bars and cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
